Medusa came into the world with a burning scientific passion, leading her in a devout lifestyle dedicated to Athena's teachings. Having made a routine of reading by the calm shores flanking Athena's temple, Poseidon caught sight of the maiden and noticed her frequent visitings. It wasn't long before he made introductions and took even more, breaking her virgin vow to Athena. His exiting ripple had yet to meet the water's outskirts when Athena appeared above the sight of desecration, engulfed rage. Medusa was still stunned, when she heard the curse being uttered; it's effect taking immediately.After the induced transformation ran its course, revenge settled in the free spaces of her mind. With the Olympians hidden, she opted to aim for their source of power: their worshippers. Medusa extends the Gorgon name into the United States, growing an expansive and largely successful league of organized crime; their prize product being a fine, green powder called Serquet's Venom. Their target audience being those of a middle class ( and above. ) socioeconomic status, allowing Medusa to enjoy a lavish lifestyle eventually surpassing her victims. Yet no amount of wealth could pay her way out of the divine debt Poseidon kept dormant within her.Many know the story of her demise at the hands of Perseus well. It was in her weakest moment (death) Poseidon enacts the seed forcibly planted long ago and raises his offspring, trampling her most human form to dust. Had it not been for the a distortion her head would've joined. Instead her curse was auctioned off — at the hands of the Artifact King — in the form of her entire head, compete with the other invertebrate hanging within and about her crown. Hera ( Juno. ) won it, placing her frozen rage in a case of crystal.The stationary and untampered position of her head allowed the curse's reptilian side effect to rebuild an evolved and enhanced echo of her human body; her enchanted prison expanding along with Medusa's soulless second chance. Lacking the crucial element to true animation left a seemingly hollow Gorgon, reparations built solely off reptilian instinct until her new body was physically complete. The Triple Goddess Hecate heard of Medusa's life story not long after, freeing her soul from Tartarus and placing it in her new body, under the lone condition of accepting the mantle of Hecate's Champion.After erecting an altar toward a dear friend, the goddess Era appears to her in a dream. These meetings quickly became a regularity until they occur via prayer, whether she's awake or not. As a symbol of mutual dedication, Medusa accepted Era's Bite in her spirit and the serpent goddess taught the Gorgonic race to breathe underwater.

DEVELOPMENT

[ 1 ] Becoming the Champion of Hecate affords her a second chance at life. She chose to dedicate this are opportunity to look after her own King of the Gorgons.[ 2 ] Hecate gifts Medusa the Gorgonblade; an arcane, reptilianesque semi-organic equipped with elemental prowess and a symbiotic connection providing her imagination tangibility.[ 3 ] Posing as one of the wait staff at @Ikxzuchi's #DIVINEDINNER, she slays a drunk @GodOfStorms. Afterwards she steals his trident and uses Gorgonblade to attach his severed head to her hip.[ 4 ] Since the Magick that wrought #SPORECOMING originated from Hecate, as her Champion the King was obligated to fight back @AtlanteanFatale's sea-side advance. With the help of her rapist's weapon, she was able to behead Mera and end the assault altogether. Disgusted with her decision to rid Atlantis of their queen, she throws both Poseidon's head and trident back into the sea.[5] She took Mera's crown to one of Hecate's children and requested a khopesh made of olympian steel and Hydra Blood. It was agreed the dormant Xebelian energies from Mera's crown would be in-laid within the weapon, allowing her sword to also wielded as an Xebelian wand.[6] The death of both her sisters forces Medusa to fill the vacancy left In her kingdom as their head priestess and chief diplomat. Hecate bestows her Witchmark on Medusa's navel area to assist the King in her new roles. While testing Hecate's gift, she learns Euryale and Stheno were killed by Kratos @episimasmeno.[7] In order to preserve the memory of her fallen friend Sed, seven altars has been made to the goddess ERA within her Kingdom's walls. The following night Era visits Medusa in a dream.[8] Many years have passed. ERA's divinity alone supports most of the Gorgons in existence and lead to their entire species gaining the gift to survive underwater. There once meager tribe has spread into a nation of multiple underwater tribes. Instead of an Xebelian Wand, ERA taught her the oath to a Tantu artifact relating to water: Yemaya's pearl worn as piercing.[9] Following further down a path dedicated to ERA has also taught her how to surpass the need for the Gorgonblade. Medusa's natural Gorgon physiology only grew in capability and versatility.[10] Upon accepting Era's Bite within her spirit, she can breathe underwater and draw upon a portion of the forgotten goddess' immortal soul via divine, spiritual mana.[11] Iterations of ERA and Gorgons were worshipped by the Korba Cult, resulting in Medusa's return ascending her to the leadership over the entire global criminal empire.[12] This current iteration still thrives on it's original, criminal connections and operations as well as committing ecoterroristic crimes in support of the Ocean's conservation (since Gorgonkind has migrated underwater) and crimes against water quality inequality (since a lot of the new recruits of Kobra Cult are poor or from disenfranchised communities effected by those issues.)[13] Gorgons are incredibly revered in the Monster community due to their ability to reproduce half dozen of their eggs as more gorgons while the other half have the potential to become any monster. Gorgons possess something akin to the Eve gene found in mortals, dubbed the Lilith gene in the Monstrosity World. Consequently, this also means Gorgons can feed off of any living thing or monster, making them volatile disruptors of environments and food-chains.
